Our solid gold jewellery is handcrafted to last a lifetime. However, after spending a pretty penny, you’ll want your jewellery to maintain its original shine and quality. Thankfully, cleaning gold jewellery is a straightforward and budget-friendly process.Â
As a general rule, there are a few things you should avoid with all gold and diamond jewellery; these include:Â
- Exposure to any harsh chemicals such as chlorine and cleaningÂ
- Exposure to excessive moisture, including swimming and showering – while showering is not thought to damage 14 and 18 karat gold, too much water can take away its shine, so it’s best to remove it.Â
- Exposure to products such as perfume, hairspray, lotion and fake tan.
- Exposure to natural oils or sweat, they'll dull the sparkle of your jewellery.Â
- Exposure to friction such as bed sheets, towels and jewellery made from less malleable metals.Â
How to clean gold jewellery
Thankfully, 14 and 18 karat gold jewellery is slow to tarnish and dull, meaning it requires less maintenance than other gold jewellery metals. However, if you want to maintain the rich shine of our jewellery, regular cleaning is recommended.
To clean your gold, follow these simple steps:
- Soak your jewellery in warm water and mild dish soap for 5-10 minutes
- Gently brush with a soft bristle brush
- Rinse with clean waterÂ
- Dry and polish with a lint-free cloth Â
Chlorine bleach or household cleaners should never be used to clean your solid gold jewellery as they can scratch or damage the metals used to alloy gold.Â
White gold jewellery
With proper care and cleaning, you can expect your white gold jewellery to maintain its shine and colour for several years. However, because white gold is plated, you should expect to have it replated every 3-5 years. Â
Cleaning diamond jewellery
Although diamond is the hardest natural substance on earth, they still need to be treated with care.Â
Thankfully, the process of cleaning diamonds is the same as cleaning gold, so there’s no extra work required – follow the above steps, and you’ll enjoy sparkly diamonds for years to come.Â
Ultra-sonic cleaners
If you’ve done your research online, you may have come across ultrasonic cleaners, which can be used to remove any accumulated dirt and grime. However, they can also dislodge any loose stones from their settings – so we’d recommend leaving any ultrasonic cleaning to the professionals.Â
Professional cleaning  Â
Speaking of professionals, we recommend having your fine jewellery cleaned by a trusted jeweller every 1-2 years, and it will look as good as new.  Â
Storing your gold jewellery
When you’re not wearing your fine jewellery, it is essential to store it with proper care. To avoid any scratched gold or diamonds, we recommend storing your jewellery in its original box or a jewellery storage box.Â
Avoid storing multiple pieces in one box when travelling with your solid gold jewellery as they may get damaged in transit.Â

Checking your gold jewellery
Gold is highly malleable, so 24 karat gold is too soft to be worn as jewellery. Although our 14 and 18-karat gold pieces are alloyed with other metals to make them stronger, all solid gold jewellery should be handled with the utmost care.
Caring for your jewellery includes regularly checking it, from loose clasps and stones to worn-down prongs; your lifetime pieces may require minor repairs to maintain their original quality and protect your investment.Â
Two year manufacturing warranty
We pride ourselves on quality products and excellent craftsmanship. However, if we find there is a defect or fault in the way your jewellery was crafted, our two-year manufacturing warranty covers you, and we will replace or repair your item at no cost to you.Â
What our warranty doesn’t cover
Wear and tear
If your jewellery is damaged due to excessive wear and tear (such as a broken chain or scratched ring), improper storage, exposure to the elements listed on our jewellery care guide, this is the customers responsibility.Â
Third-party repairs, modification, or cleaning Â
Our warranty will be void if your jewellery has been damaged by any third-party repairs, modification, or cleaning.Â
Loss or damageÂ
Finally, our warranty doesn’t cover lost or damaged jewellery. To ensure your jewellery is covered in these circumstances, we recommend you insure your purchase.Â
