WHAT SIZED BRACELET SHOULD I GET?

When you’re investing in jewellery, particularly solid gold, it’s essential that it fits properly. While many people know their ring size, bracelet size is often forgotten about. So, we’re detailing everything you need to know about sizing bracelets correctly. That way, when you’re hinting for an 18 karat solid gold bracelet or diamond tennis bracelet, you can hint for the perfect size, too.

What size bracelet should I get?

The ideal bracelet fit should be snug but not tight, with enough space to fit one or two fingers between the bracelet and wrist. If your bracelet is too snug or too loose, you run the risk of snapping or snagging your bracelet, particularly if it’s made from a soft metal, like solid gold.

Of course, personal style and preference also play a role in choosing the right fit for a bracelet. So, take the time to experiment and strike the balance between style and functionality.

Desired fit Inches to size up from wrist size
Snug ¼ - ½ inches
Comfort ¾ - 1 inches
Relaxed 1 ¼ inches

Different Bracelet Styles and Sizes

Various bracelet styles such as bangles, cuffs, and adjustable beaded bracelets can all affect the recommended size. For example, cuffs and bangles will need to be significantly bigger than a bracelet with a clasp to fit over your hand. For delicate bracelets, you might want a more snug fit to avoid any breakage.

If you have different styles of bracelets at home, try them on and decide what you do and don’t like about the fit of each to help you determine the ideal size for your preferences.

How to Measure Bracelet Size

You can easily measure your wrist at home using a measuring tape or string and a ruler. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Wrap the measuring tape or spring to the widest point above the wrist bone.
  2. To find an ideal snug fit, leave enough space between the tape or string and your wrist to fit one finger comfortably. This measurement is ideal for a snug fit.
  3. If you want a different fit, use the same method to size up accordingly to find a size that suits you.

It’s important to remember that unless you’re commissioning a custom bracelet or opt for an adjustable length, bracelet sizes typically increase in ¼ or ½ inch intervals.

Adjustable Bracelet Options

Speaking of adjustable lengths, some jeweller use clasps with adjustable lengths, like our solid gold bracelet. These types of bracelets can be adjusted to fit the wrist's unique size and personal preference, making them ideal for shopping for gold jewellery as a gift or online where measurements cannot be taken directly.

If you want a more customised fit but don’t want to commission a custom piece, using extenders or having an experienced jeweller shorten a bracelet by removing links may be an option depending on the style.
